Blue Screen of Death
Every other day, my version of Windows spits out a Blue Screen of Death. Seriously. Every other day. Problem is that each "error" is different from the last, and I've no idea what's causing this. I do, however, have the last three "BSOD" error logs with me. I'll post them in order, oldest first:
Happened on 11/09/2008:
Code:
Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 454e2eb4, parameter3 f695c9c8, parameter4 00000000.
Happened on 11/12/2008:
Code:
Error code 0000000a, parameter1 0c0a0004, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 80516a6e.
Happened on 11/14/2008:
Code:
Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 bf802227, parameter3 a94dbc08, parameter4 00000000.
I don't know what's causing these errors, and it's pissing me off. I have a feeling it could be a memory stick or bay that could be the cause of it, so I took out a stick of memory and I'm checking to see if doing this will help. I actually recently recovered from a BSOD not too long ago and had to restart my computer (not the last one I listed, that actually was roughly 10 - 15 minutes after I recovered from the one listed), and I'm getting sick of seeing an entirely blue screen every other day. My computer is listed below:
OPERATING SYSTEM: Microsoft Windows XP SP3 (NOTE: No, I don't think I can attribute the cause of SP3 to my errors.)
PROCESSOR: Intel Pentium 4 2.53 GHz
MEMORY (before taking a stick of memory out): 3.0 GB
MEMORY (after taking a stick of memory out): 2.0 GB
I do (at least I SHOULD) have the latest drivers for my video and audio card...
VIDEO CARD: ATI Radeon 9550 with 256 MB memory
AUDIO CARD: SoundBlaster Live! (NOTE: A very old card; I'm looking to upgrade).
I'm at a loss here. I don't know what I can do in order to get the issue resolved. It's pissing me off and frustrating the hell out of me! Any and all help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Next time it happens please get the STOP code and the offending file (if any) mentioned.

If you are curious you can always check the logs. To see them right click on MY computer>Manage>Then you should see the system and software logs. look through them on the dates you have mentioned. This may assist you in discovering what was the cause on those dates. It is possible the stop screen happened so fast an accurate log could not be created but worth a try.
I do agree, keep a pen and paper close by and post the stop error if any.

Actually, that's where I got the information in the first place: from the logs. So far, I haven't had any issues since uninstalling that one memory, so I'm thinking the issue is in that bay, or in the memory itself. I'll try to remember to check that out when I get a chance to. I'll keep you posted.
